This time, Pope Francis wasn't the only person wearing robes when he met with a head of state, as he held a cordial meeting with Kuwait's Prime Minister at the Vatican.

The two smiled when they sat across from each other. According to the Vatican, the two leaders discussed the importance of peaceful coexistence between different religions. They also talked about 'the positive contribution that the historical Christian minority offers to Kuwaiti society.

Following their meeting, the two delegations exchanged gifts. The Prime Minister gave the Pope a gold-plated ship. Pope Francis gave him a St. Martin medallion and copies of 'Evangelii Gaudium and the 'Laudato Si encyclical.

After the papal meeting, the Prime Minister spent time with Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin. The two nations signed a 'Memorandum of Understanding.

According to the Vatican, the agreement is meant to improve 'collaboration in the political and cultural spheres, and it also 'offers tools for consultation between the Parties.
