Pope Francis will participate in a joint ceremony of the Catholic church and the World Lutheran Federation on October 31, 2016.

This event in Sweden is part of the reception process of the study document 'From Conflict to Communion' which was published in 2013, and has since been widely distributed to Lutheran and Catholic communities.

The Pope is scheduled to visit the southern city of Lund to commemorate the 500th Anniversary of the Reformation; where the Lutheran World Federation was founded back in 1947.

This will be the first time since Pope John Paul II visited Sweden back in 1989. Pope Francis welcomed Queen Silvia of Sweden, to the Library of the Vatican's Apostolic Palace in April of 2015.

One by one, members of her delegation greeted the Pope. Perhaps, the most memorable moment was when the Queen's one-year-old grand daughter stole the show.

This one-day event will highlight the important ecumenical developments that have taken place during the past 50 years of dialogue between Lutherans and Catholics.
