Pope's Schedule: Creation of five new cardinals

This week the Vatican will prepare for two of its most important ceremonies. ; On Wednesday afternoon at 4 p.m. Rome time, Pope Francis will create five new cardinals. They come from El Salvador, Spain, Sweden, Laos and Mali. The next day, the new cardinals will be able to celebrate Mass with the pope at one of the Catholic Church's most important celebrations in Rome: the Feast of Sts. Peter and Paul. In this ceremony, Pope Francis blesses and gives the palliums to the archbishops that were named in the last year. ; Apart from these events, Pope Francis will not miss his two public encounters with the pilgrims; Wednesday morning at the General Audience and Sunday at the Angelus. ; Nor will he miss his daily homilies at his residence at Casa Santa Marta. ; Saturday, July 1, begins his summer vacation, during which he will suspend all public hearings and meetings, except the Sunday Angelus.
