Pope Francis departs Colombia with a lively ceremony


Pope Francis officially put an end to his apostolic trip to Colombia at Cartenga's Rafael Núñez Airport. 

It was a colorful and lively farewell ceremony, filled with traditional songs and dances of the country. Before departing, the pope said goodbye to the Guard of Honor and delegations. 

Pope Francis was accompanied to the plane by Colombia's president Juan Manuel Santos and his wife, Maria Clemencia. The return trip to Rome will last 11 hours, and is scheduled to land in Rome at 12:40 p.m. On Monday, September 11.
