The pope met with a group of students from the Chartreux Institute in Lyon, who are preparing to work in finance and international trade. He congratulated their curriculum for including humanistic, philosophical, and spiritual matters that will help them do their job better.

POPE FRANCIS
'Indeed, it is essential that, from now and in your future professional life, you learn to remain free from the lure of money, from the slavery in which money traps those who worship it.'

In particular, he has asked them to study so they are equipped with 'the strength and the courage not to blindly obey the invisible hand of the market;' and also that they be 'promoters and defenders of a growth in equality.'

Before saying goodbye, he told them that they have 'the capacity of deciding their future,' and that is why they should 'become responsible for this world and the life of every person.'
