Pope Francis “saddened” by the Peruvian bus tragedy

More than 40 people lost their lives on Tuesday in Peru, when a passenger bus went off a more than 300-foot cliff.

The pope didn't overlook this tragedy, instead writing a telegram in which he says he is “deeply saddened” and will pray for the victims.

Pope Francis will travel to Peru in a few days on what will be his first international trip of 2018. From January 15 to 18, he will visit Chile. From January 18 to 21, he will visit three cities in Peru – Lima, Puerto Maldonado and Trujillo.
