At the end of the closing Mass at the 9th World Meeting of Families, Cardinal Kevin Farrell, prefect of the Dicastery for Laity, Family and Life, announced the next World Meeting of Families will be held in Rome.
The 10th edition will be celebrated in 2021.
John Paul II instituted these world encounters. The first was celebrated in Rome in 1994, and they now take place every three years.
