The pope has met in Rome with students of journalism from a school that the Catholic Church founded in Germany 50 years ago

On their website they say their objective is to form independent and critical journalists: who take into account the Christian ethical aspects of their work, society; and approach questions of faith honestly. This idea has now caught the pope's attention.

POPE FRANCIS
“As Christian journalists, you are distinguished by your positive attitude towards the person and your professional ethics. You not only do a job, but you fulfill a mission and a commitment.”

The pope gave them several pieces of advice: he asked them not to let themselves be carried away by general opinion, defeatism or by pessimism. He also added that with their news they can help people open their hearts to each other.
