Pope cancels scheduled meeting due to a cold

The pope held a few meetings this morning in the Vatican. However, he canceled his meeting with Roman clergy scheduled for today in the Basilica of St. John Lateran.

The Vatican spokesperson said the pope chose to stay in because he was feeling slightly unwell.

On Wednesday, he spent several hours outdoors, in St. Peter's Square, for the General Audience. His voice sounded a bit hoarse even then.

Despite the cold winds sweeping through Rome Wednesday evening, Pope Francis processed from the Basilica of St. Anselm to the Basilica of St. Sabina, an Ash Wednesday tradition. By the looks of it, it didn't do him much good.
