Pope Francis will visit Cyprus and Greece from Dec. 2 to 6

The Vatican has officially announced that Pope Francis will visit Cyprus and Greece in December. It will be his 35th papal trip.

The Pope will be in Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, from Dec. 2 to Dec 4.

Then the Pope will travel to Greece, where he will visit Athens and Lesbos. The Pope's trip to Greece will be important for alleviating tensions in the Mediterranean between Turkey and Greece.

Another important theme of the apostolic visit will be migration. In fact, the last time Pope Francis visited the Greek island of Lesbos, in 2016, he returned to Rome with a number of migrant families.
