Pope Francis asks to pray for catechists this December

Pope Francis dedicates his December prayer intention to catechists, whom he says “have an invaluable mission for the transmission and growth of the faith.”

The Pope says that being a catechist is not simply a job, but a vocation that requires creativity, gentleness and courage, and notes that in many parts of the world, it is catechists who are the primary evangelizers.

Pope Francis thanks catechists “for the interior enthusiasm with which they live this mission at the service of the Church.”
