They are hundreds of miles away from home and experiencing a lot of anguish because of what's happening in their country.

“The people are very worried, because they weren't expecting such a large-scale attack. We have family in Ukraine, brothers and sisters who have been called to fight. And some people have already been injured.”

They're following the situation from a distance and asking for help before it's too late.

“We're counting on the support of the European Community, Italian authorities and NATO in this war. We're asking for harsh sanctions against Russia and for NATO's support to defend us during this Russian invasion.”

In a symbolic gesture of support, Rome lit up the Colosseum with the colors of the Ukrainian flag.

These Ukrainians in the Eternal City sang their national anthem together, hopeful that peace will be restored.
