Pope Francis said goodbye to the President of Malta, George Vella, before leaving the country. The two heads of state spoke briefly about the visit.

As he walked through Malta International Airport, he looked very tired and needed the help of a priest to walk down some steps.

The Pope also said goodbye to different religious authorities and to Robert Abela, the Prime Minister of Malta, and his wife.

Due to his knee pain, Pope Francis used an elevator, instead of boarding the plane by stairs.
