Third soccer match for peace, supported by Pope Francis, to be played in Rome on Oct. 10

Ronaldinho, Dani Alves and Maxi Rodríguez surprised students of Scholas, a worldwide network of schools, when they greeted Pope Francis and announced the Match for Peace.

The friendly match will be played on October 10 at the Olympic Stadium in Rome. Soccer legends and current stars are expected to play.

It will be the third match for peace and despite its name, not all of the matches have been peaceful.

The first was in 2014 and the second in 2016.

During the Scholas meeting, Ronaldinho, Dani Alves and Maxi Rodríguez presented Pope Francis with the captain's jersey. The Pope blessed an olive tree and the ball that will be used at the match on October 10.
