Pope Francis' prayer intention for July: The elderly

Each month, the Pope invites Christians to pray for a special intention. In July 2022, the intention is dedicated to the elderly. Pope Francis invites prayer “for the elderly who represent the roots and memory of a people, so that their experience and wisdom may help the younger ones to look to the future with hope and responsibility.”

The intention coincides with the celebration of the second World Day of Grandparents and the Elderly, which will be celebrated on Sunday, July 24, both in Rome and in all the dioceses of the world. It also coincides with the theme of his Wednesday public catecheses, which speak to the value of old age.
