Taiwan celebrates 80 years of diplomatic relations with the Holy See with the inauguration of an art exhibition entitled, “Friendly Taiwan meets Fratelli Tutti.”
Taiwanese ambassador to the Holy See, Matthew S.M. Lee, sees the exhibition as a way of combining the cultures of both the Catholic Church and Taiwan.

Depsite the differences between the Eastern and Western writing system and art forms, both the Vatican and Taiwan maintain the culture of “transmitting the faith through artistic writing.”
Using images typical of oriental culture like bamboo, mountains, and birds, the exhibition conveys messages of harmony, peace, love, and brotherhood.

The 30 calligraphic pieces on display at our Embassy are inspired by the most signfiicant themes included in both Laudato Si' and Fratelli Tutti.
Ambassador Lee believes “Friendly Taiwan meets Fratelli Tutti” commemorates the unique and artistic relationship between the Catholic Church and Taiwan.
