To mark the 43rd Meeting for friendship among peoples, also known as the Rimini Meeting, Pope Francis sent a message signed by the Secretary of State, Cardinal Pietro Parolin, to the Bishop of Rimini.

In it, the Pope emphasized the importance of caring for one another and fostering a culture of unconditional passion in today's world.

Pope Francis has repeatedly said that the brokenness of today's world is based in the belief that there is no possibility of redemption. He stresses that man cannot bear fruit by themselves, but through friendship and fraternity.

The Meeting for friendship among peoples, was founded in 1980 with the goal of bringing people of different faiths and cultures together in a place of friendship and peace.

This year's Rimini Meeting, which takes place from August 20 to 25, focuses on the theme, “A Passion for Man.”
