The World Youth Day Local Organizing Committee met in Rome with representatives from Bishops' Conferences and youth groups from around the world.

For two days, the committee has been looking for ways to encourage participation in the first mass event organized by the Church since the pandemic and the war in Ukraine.

The organizers have emphasized the themes of sustainability, interreligious dialogue and the inclusion of people with disabilities—to ensure that no one is excluded from World Youth Day. To encourage sustainability, almost nothing will be printed for the event.

We are not going to have any paper – only what is absolutely necessary.

280 people from 180 countries and more than 50 languages attended the meeting. Various cardinals and political authorities were also present, such as Cardinal Kevin Farrell, Prefect of the Dicastery for the Laity, Family and Life, the Cardinal Patriarch of Lisbon and the president of the Portuguese parliament.
