LIVE: Pope Francis attends prayer service in Kinshasa Cathedral

On his third day in the Democratic Republic of Congo, Pope Francis travels to Our Lady of Congo Cathedral or Kinshasa Cathedral, for a meeting with priests, deacons, religious and seminarians.

The Cardinal Archbishop of Kinshasa, Fridolin Ambongo Besungu, and the pastor welcome the Pope with a cross and holy water. The three walk enter the Cathedral and Pope Francis takes a moment to pray at the graves of the deceased archbishops.

During the meeting, a priest, nun, and seminarian all give their testimonies before the Pope speaks.

The Cathedral building dates back to 1947 and has been the seat of the Metropolitan Archdiocese of Kinshasa since 1959.
