LIVE: Pope Francis takes part in prayer meeting for peace at John Garang Mausoleum

For his last public event on the second day in South Sudan, Pope Francis participates in an ecumenical prayer event at the John Garang Mausoleum in Juba.

The President of the South Sudan Council of Churches begins the service with a brief introduction before the First Reading and Gospel are read.

Following the readings, the Archbishop of Canterbury and the Moderator of the General Assembly of the Church of Scotland each speak. Then, Pope Francis also gives his address before the three leaders close with a blessing.

The John Garang Mausoleum is the burial place of Dr. John Garang of Mabior, a leader of the Army and Liberation Movement of the People of South Sudan from 1983 to 2005. He served as the country's vice president and chairman of the government of South Sudan.
