In the Paul VI Audience Hall, Cardinal Raniero Cantalamessa, the Preacher of the Papal Household, delivered the first Lenten reflection of 2023. The theme was 'Let those who have ears hear what the Spirit says to the Churches.'
The Cardinal explained that from the beginning the Holy Spirit has encouraged Christians to step outside their comfort zones and face change and diversity with positivity rather than negativity.
The real problem is not in the novelty. It lies more in the way we deal with it. Let me explain. Every newness and every change faces a crossroad. Then, it leads to two different paths—the way of the world and the way of God or the way of death and the way of life.
Cardinal Cantalamessa was named a cardinal in 2020 by Pope Francis and has served as the Preacher of the Papal Household for 43 years.
