Pope Francis meets with the Mayor of Paris

On March 18, Pope Francis welcomed Anne Hildago, the Mayor of Paris, to the Apostolic Palace.

Joined by the Ambassador of France to the Holy See, Florence Mangin, Mayor Hildago used her meeting with the Pope to discuss climate issues and the refugee crisis.

Hildago gifted the Pope photos of the Cathedral of Notre Dame de Paris, which is scheduled to reopen in December 2024 after restoration is completed following the fire that took place nearly four years ago.

1859. They are two photos from the beginnings of photography and, of course, of Notre Dame.

As the Pope said goodbye to the mayor, he asked her to remember to pray for him.
