Pope Francis prays for those affected by tornado in Mississippi

During the Angelus, Pope Francis urged all priests to be forgiving like Christ in the Sacrament of Confession.

I would like to say something to confessors. Dear brothers, do not forget that you are also sinners. And you are in the confessionals not to torture but to forgive and forgive everything like the Lord forgives everything.

The Pope offered prayers for those suffering around the world, especially those affected by the earthquakes last month in Syria and Turkey and by the tornado in Mississippi.

We also express our solidarity with the earthquake victims of Turkey and Syria, for whom a special collection is being taken up today in all the parishes of Italy. We also pray for the people of the State of Mississippi, affected by a devastating tornado.

Pope Francis greeted many of the groups visiting from around the world. He ended the Angelus by congratulating the Italian Air Force, celebrating the 100th anniversary of its founding.
