The Dicastery for the Service of Charity sent 10,000 medications to those affected by the earthquake in Turkey and Syria.

The situation remains critical, with 1.2 million people now displaced in shelters. In the middle of March, the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees invited the international community to send essential materials.

FILIPPO GRANDI
High Commissioner, UNHCR
UNHCR, my organization, together with the rest of the aid community, has stepped up very quickly with first aid relief items that people needed, especially in the first few days after the earthquake. Help with the documentation. Many people lost all their documents. Help with psychological support. One feature that is really very striking is how traumatized people are.

The shipment of medications marks the third round of aid from the Apostolic Charity in coordination with the Embassy of Turkey to the Holy See. In addition to medicine, they sent 10,000 thermal shirts in their most recent aid package, so that those affected could face the low temperatures.

Immediately after the first earthquake, the Vatican sent canned food, diapers and other supplies that were required immediately.
