It was the feast of the Most Holy Trinity. And before praying the Angelus, Pope Francis reflected on its importance in Christian life.
During his address, he explained the meaning of a very common gesture: the sign of the cross.
By making the cross on our body we remember how much God has loved us, even to the point of giving his life for us. And we repeat to ourselves that his love envelops us completely, from top to bottom, from left to right, like an embrace that never leaves us.
At the end of the Angelus prayer, Pope Francis also prayed for the victims of the tragic train incident in India, which has left at least 275 people dead and over 1,000 injured.
