Following World Youth Day in Lisbon, Pope Francis resumes his normal schedule. In July, he heavily reduced his meetings as it is the month when popes traditionally take the opportunity to rest or work from home.
August sees the return of the Wednesday General Audiences and the official meetings at the Apostolic Palace. The Pope's reduced schedule in July does not mean that he did not welcome visitors. He met with former U.S. president, Bill Clinton, and the president of Vietnam.
Returning to his normal schedule, the Pope will travel to Mongolia from August 31 to September 4.
Pope Francis has previously expressed his desire to visit this country, which is important in geopolitical terms. It borders Russia, China and Kazakhstan and the Catholic community is less than 1% of the population.
