The Jubilee of Hope that the Church have celebrated in 2025 is coming near to its end: the Holy Door of the Cathedral of Rome, the Major Basilica of St. John Lateran, has now been closed.
The event began at 11:00 a.m., when Cardinal Baldassare Reina, Vicar General of His Holiness for the Diocese of Rome and Archpriest of the Basilica, presided over the rite. He was accompanied by a large crowd of faithful and by the Rome Diocesan Choir, conducted by Msgr. Marco Frisina.
The closing of this Holy Door follows that of St. Mary Major on December 25. The act symbolizes the conclusion of a period of pilgrimage, conversion, and hope — a time in which millions of people from all over the world crossed the sacred thresholds, seeking the inner renewal that this Jubilee Year offered.
