The beatification cause of Fr. Luigi Giussani, the Italian priest and founder of the Communion and Liberation movement, is moving forward. In May, the diocesan phase was completed, with all the documents and testimonies collected. The process has now moved to Rome.
The Dicastery for the Causes of Saints is reviewing the material to determine if he can be declared venerable. A miracle attributed to his intercession is expected to be certified. If confirmed, it would be evidence that he is in Heaven and could pave the way for him to be declared blessed.
Bishop Ennio Apeciti, the archdiocesan delegate for the process, said in an interview that there are “several miracles” attributed to his intercession.

Yes, now we'll have to see why there are various reports of miracles. Some are such that we think they could be investigated. There are many strict criteria regarding this. We're working on it. They do exist (…). Yes, yes. One in particular, the one I'd like to propose to the Holy See as a typical miracle. But I can't say more than that.
The conversation took place during the Rimini Meeting, an international cultural and political gathering organized by the Communion and Liberation. The interview was followed by a panel discussion on Giussani’s legacy.
This year’s Rimini Meeting also welcomed a pope for the first time since 1982. Pope Leo XIV met with the crowds and addressed participants before heading to the harbor to celebrate an open-air Mass at sunset.
