Alex, Elizabeth, Mary, Lydia and Tony are among the 147 Christians who were killed in the University of Garissa in Kenya, specifically because of their faith. These two police officers, Solomon and Ben were killed, as they tried to protect the victims.

Pope Francis prayed for the victims from the balcony of St. Peter's Basilica, during his Urbi et Orbi Easter blessing.

POPE FRANCIS
'May constant prayer rise up from all people of goodwill for those who lost their lives â?? I think in particular of the young people who were killed last Thursday at Garissa University College in Kenya â??, for all who have been kidnapped, and for those forced to abandon their homes and their dear ones.â?

To honor the life of the victims, a prayer vigil is being held on Tuesday afternoon in Kenya... many are showing their support, internationally through social media.

It's a tragedy that has both shocked and moved the world. Muslim and Christian students were separated by the Islamic gunmen on Holy Thursday. Then the Christians were shot to death.

With the hashtag, #GarissaAttack and #147Notjustanumber, millions of people are remembering the lives of the modern day martyrs.

In light of the massive murder of Christians who are being killed because of their faith, the Pope has denounced the so called 'complicit silence' of the international community, the media and public opinion, by showing that African lives also matter.
