Her son, James Foley was an American journalist and Christian, who was kidnapped, enslaved, tortured, and eventually killed by jihadists in Syria in 2014. This experience eventually led to the deepening of her own faith, her path of forgiveness, and to begin a foundation to help free US captives around the world.
