It is one of the most common scenes during the Wednesday general audiences: the Pope greets newlyweds. They travel there for his blessing.
Many come to greet Pope Leo before they have even been married for a week. This is the case with this newly married couple. The experience gave a lasting impression.ATS
So for me, it's, like, very special. Um, especially when we just got married, uh, like five days ago. So it's it's a pretty cool experience. Very, very surreal. It was really cool to be that close and, like, very special. I was just telling you, it was really special to be able to have a blessing. We were gifted some Rosaries as well, and, uh, I feel like it's a good blessing for us as we're starting our married life.
Rosaries, along with pictures of the Pope, which they assure they will never lose sight of.
However, in some cases, greeting the Pope may lead them to take away a more personal souvenir.
He asked us where we were from, and then we asked him to bless us and sign a painting we had received as a gift. We were especially thankful to have the Holy Father's blessing. And it was a very emotional moment.
It is a painting and a signature that, from now on, will preside over the entrance to their new home. In the meantime, they hope to greet Pope Leo XIV again, but this time, when their children arrive.
Now, both couples return home, taking with them one of the greatest memories and experiences they have had as a married couple so far: being able to greet and receive the blessing of a pope.
