Like every Wednesday, the pope came out to greet around 30,000 faithful before beginning his weekly public catechesis. What was different this time was the papal entrance song—“Dancing Queen” by ABBA:

After making his rounds in the square to greet excited pilgrims, the pope began his catechesis. Referring to the mission of the Church, he shared this statement…

It is also entrusted with the mission of speaking clear words to reject everything that harms life and hinders its development, and of taking a stand in favor of the poor, the exploited, the victims of violence and war, and all those who suffer, in body and in spirit.

With these words, the pontiff emphasized the active role of the Church in the face of injustice in today’s world, insisting on its commitment to the most vulnerable.

POPE LEO XIV
The Church carries out its mission between the “already” of the beginning of the Kingdom of God in Jesus and the “not yet” of its promised and awaited fulfillment.

During the audience, the pontiff encouraged believers to live up to their calling of Christian hope, even in the midst of difficulties, keeping their eyes always fixed on the final goal.
