This morning, May 21, at the Vatican Palace, Pope Leo XIV received the new extraordinary and plenipotentiary ambassadors of Sierra Leone, Bangladesh, Yemen, Rwanda, Namibia, Mauritius, Chad, and Sri Lanka.

The ambassadors' meeting with the pope coincides with the presentation of their Letters of Credence, the formal act that marks the beginning of their diplomatic duties to the Holy See.

During the reception, Pope Leo took the opportunity to remind the diplomats of the true essence of their mission and their international vocation.

In his address, the Holy Father emphasized the fundamental role ambassadors must play as builders of “bridges” and promoters of “dialogue,” while also underscoring the importance of defending multilateralism as a key tool for resolving global challenges and fostering understanding among peoples.
