One of the busiest times of the year for the Pope is about to begin: Holy Week. Since his schedule is so packed this week, the Pope will not preside over his usual morning mass at Casa Santa Marta.

On Wednesday, April 1st, the Pope will have his weekly the general audience in St. Peter's Square. Thousands of pilgrims from throughout the world are expected to attend.

Pope Francis will preside over the Chrism Mass at St. Peter's Basilica on Holy Thursday. That's when he will bless the holy oils. Later that day, he will celebrate the Mass of the Lord's Supper in a prison, where he will wash the feet of several inmates.

On Good Friday, the Pope will preside over the celebration of the Passion at St. Peter's Basilica. He will participate in the Stations of the Cross at the Colosseum that evening.

Pope Francis will also lead the Holy Saturday Easter Vigil. In one of the most powerful moments of Holy Week, the Pope will preside over the Liturgy of Light in a completely dark St. Peter's Basilica.

The final event of the Pope's busy week will be Easter Sunday Mass in St. Peter's Square. It will conclude with him giving the Urbi et Orbi blessing.
