Dioceses from around the world join Italian bishops campaign for persecuted Christians

On Saturday, May 23, in every Italian cathedral, a prayer for persecuted Christians will be recited. Pope Francis liked the idea and threw his support behind it during his weekly general audience. POPE FRANCIS "I hope that this moment of prayer raises awareness that religious freedom is an inalienable human right, increases sensitivity to the plight of Christians persecuted in our day, and puts an end to this unacceptable crime. Today, some of the most dangerous places to be a Christian are Nigeria, Syria, and Iraq, along with Pakistan, Indonesia, and Saudi Arabia. The initiative quickly went viral on social networks through the hashtag #free2pray. So other similar prayer events will take place the same day in other parts of the world, like Russia or Brazil.
