In 2011, the Word on Fire 'Catholicismâ? series was launched as a study program. Now, five years later, with many publications and studies under their belt, they will soon publish another series: 'The Pivotal Players.'
This series was filmed by the same crew who created 'Catholicism,â? so they are looking to recreate the rich, cinematic feel that the first series had while carefully depicting the stories of heroes within the Catholic Church.
BISHOP ROBERT BARRON
Archdiocese of Los Angeles
'I wanted to identify 10, or maybe we can do 12 if we can get the money, major figures within the Catholic world who've really shaped our way of being. I wanted to tell their stories and go to their places and share the beauty of what they've done.â?
As of now, six of them have been filmed: Thomas Aquinas, St. Catherine of Siena, Michelangelo, St. Francis of Assisi, John Henry Newman and GK Chesterton. These six are what will be published in September, with Bishop Barron acting as the writer, speaker and narrator.
The filming of the series was interrupted by Barron becoming a bishop, but he is hoping that he will soon be able to resume filming the rest of the series with his crew at Word on Fire.

'You know, I can get that basic content work done, then this wonderful team does all the rest really. So because of them, we can keep it going.â?
Word on Fire is a non-profit organization that was launched in 2000. From it's website, it publishes articles, videos, weekly homilies, study programs by the bishop and other contributors.
Bishop Barron comments that there is a small, but focused group of devoted Catholics in the media world. He says that by working with them one never knows what future projects Word on Fire and the Catholic Church can accomplish.
