Pope sends video message of hope and unity in anticipation of Peru trip

Pope Francis sent a video message to Peruvians to follow the Christian path of unity and hope by imitating the saints, especially those who have come from Peru.

"A Christian has to follow this path and why not a Peruvian, with so many Peruvian saints who work for unity? One who works for unity looks forward and looking forward can find skepticism and bitterness - a Christian cannot - a Christian looks forward with hope, because he hopes to accomplish that which the Lord promised him."

It comes just months before he embarks on his sixth trip to Latin America in 2018, visiting Peru and Chile from January 15-21.

The video has been published on the website of the Diocese of Lima in Peru by Cardinal Juan Luis Cipriani.
