Before his daily Mass, Pope Francis prayed about a different pandemic. He described it as the social impacts of the coronavirus, already being felt around the world.
POPE FRANCIS
This is another pandemic. It's a social pandemic. [There are] families of people with daily contracts or who unfortunately work under the table, who can't work, nor put food on the table [for their] kids. Then usurers take the little they do have.
He asked to pray for the conversion of usurers.
The pope is concerned about the social situation brought on by the pandemic. He is looking for initiatives to ameliorate the damage.
