World Youth Day Lisbon 2023, now has an official theme song. It was inspired by Mary's “yes” and her visit to her cousin, Elizabeth. It's related to the theme of the next WYD: “Mary rose up and went with haste.”
“There's a Rush in the Air” was chosen through a contest. The lyrics were written by Fr. João Paulo Vaz and the music by Pedro Ferreira, both from Coimbra.
As young people from all over the world prepare for their meeting with the pope, this song acts as an invitation to follow Mary's example of being committed to service, mission and changing the world.
Two versions of the song were recorded: the Portuguese version and the international version, in five languages (Portuguese, English, Spanish, French and Italian).
