Erbil enthusiastically embraces Pope Francis in his final event in Iraq

The 10,000 people who participated in Pope Francis' Mass at the Franso Hariri stadium received him full of enthusiasm. This was the pope's final event in Iraq.

Erbil has been a welcoming city also in the past: it welcomed those fleeing ISIS and those fleeing the war in Syria. Its streets are full of stories like the ones the pope heard throughout his trip.

Pope Francis is the first political leader to put his hands on the wounds of the Iraqi people, and for that they say goodbye with gratitude.
