Pope Francis prays prostrate in St. Peter's Basilica on Good Friday

Faithful to tradition, the Celebration of the Passion in the Vatican, began with a powerful gesture: the Pope praying prostrate on the floor of St. Peter's Basilica.

This is the liturgical ceremony of Good Friday that contemplates Jesus' Passion and Death.

Like last year, because of restrictions imposed by the pandemic, few people were able to attend.

If anything, that only inceased the impact of the event.
