From Germany, the Vatican Gardens received an image of the Virgin Mary to which Pope Francis has long been devoted. She has been accompanied with full honors to a place near the dome of St. Peter's Basilica.

It is an original replica of 'Mary, Untier of Knots' that comes from Germany. For some 300 years, millions of pilgrims have traveled to the church that houses this painting to ask her to undo the knots in their lives.

This time Pope Francis prayed the Rosary before it to bring an end to the pandemic.

POPE FRANCIS
'We ask you to end the pandemic and that humanity may resume daily life in greater security'.

The Pope asked Mary to untie five 'knots' of the health crisis: loneliness, unemployment, domestic violence, scientific progress, and the future of pastoral care.

With this prayer, the Pope closed the worldwide “Prayer Marathon” that began on May 1. Each day throughout the month, the Rosary has been prayed from a different shrine on every continent.

During this final Rosary, Marian shrines virtually joined the Pope in prayer from Paraguay, Chile, Rwanda, Scotland and Spain.

The “Prayer Marathon” has become a global initiative joined by millions of people.
