Cypriot Catholics sing Arabic “Ya oumma Allah,” dedicated to the Virgin Mary

Pope Francis' meeting with the Catholic community of Cyprus concluded with a traditional song in Arabic, “Ya oumma Allah” (Oh, Mother of God).

The Pope's first stop in Cyprus was a meeting with priests, religious, catechists and members o ecclesial movements in the Cathedral of Our Lady of Grace.

At the end of the event, the Pope gave a blessing using the Maronite tradition, with an icon of Our Lady of Ilige, which means “fertile valley,” as in the “fertile valley” where the Son flourished.
