Pope Francis met with seven new ambassadors to the Holy See at the Vatican. They are from Moldova, Kyrgyzstan, Lesotho, Luxembourg, Chad, Namibia and Guinea Bissau.

The ambassadors presented their credential letters to the Pope one at a time.

The ambassador of Namibia remembered that it was a special day for the Pope.

-'Holy Father, greetings from Namibia. Happy birthday.'
-'Thank you.'

And Guinea Bissau's new ambassador made quite the impression with his fluent Spanish and special invitation.

-'It is a great honor for me, and I want to take advantage of this opportunity to invite you to visit Guinea Bissau next year.'
-'I hope I can... Thank you,very kind.'

Then Pope Francis addressed the new ambassadors. Reflecting on the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic, the Pope noted that a year after vaccines first became available, many people continue to suffer due to lack of access to them.

POPE FRANCIS
'It is important that the international community intensify its efforts of cooperation so that every person will have ready access to vaccines. This is not a matter of convenience or courtesy. It is a matter of justice.'

The Pope reiterated that we are a global community where one person's problems are everyone's problems.
