Two of Pope Francis’ closest advisors, Vatican Secretary of State Pietro Parolin, and the Vatican’s number three, Archbishop Edgar Peña Parra, have tested positive for COVID-19.

The Vatican has not made it clear if they have recently met with the Pope. Cardinal Parolin typically meets with Pope Francis each Monday, and Archbishop Peña Parra on Tuesdays.

The Cardinal is reportedly experiencing mild symptoms, and was not present during the incumbent president of Bosnia and Herzegovina’s visit to the Vatican on Monday.

Archbishop Peña Parra has also tested positive, but is asymptomatic.

The last time they were seen together in public was during the Pope’s meeting with foreign ambassadors to the Holy See on January 11.
