Ignacio Echeverría, better known as the 'skateboard hero,' was killed in the 2017 London bombings while trying to save a woman. Now, the cause for his canonization will be opened. Under the name “Skate Hero”, St. Mary's Militia has created a musical in his honor.

It coincides precisely with an ecumenical meeting that we carry out every three years in England. Every time we go, we perform a musical with the youth group of the Militia of St. Mary and this time, we thought that the figure of Ignacio Echeverría was an ideal bridge to represent the unity between England, Spain and all Christians.
Around 20,000 people have already seen the musical live. Since then, Ignacio's story has not ceased to impress many due to the faith that motivated his heroic act.

I was especially touched by the testimony from the terrorist victims. They told me that it was the first time that something like this had happened.
We want their example to live on and to enlighten the young people of today.
The musical has already been performed in English and Spanish. It took months of hard work and preparation to create it. Now, the group has its eyes set on grander stages.

We would like to perform it at WYD, in Lisbon, and offer it in both English and Spanish. And, of course, it would be a dream to perform it in Rome. But, we are listening to what the Lord is telling us at each moment of the way.
Between actors and musicians, a total of 50 young people are involved in the musical. The musical helps ensure that the heroic faith of Ignacio Echeverría is not erased from our memory.
