After returning from Canada in July, Pope Francis said he would have to slow down his travel schedule due to his knee problems.
However, there are already two major international visits scheduled for 2023. The first will be at the end of January, when the Pope will travel to the Democratic Republic of Congo and South Sudan. The second will be from August 1-6, when he will visit Lisbon, Portugal for World Youth Day.
It may also be an intense year on the legal level. On the one hand, the trial of Cardinal Angelo Becciu and other Vatican employees and collaborators for allegedly having embezzled Vatican funds could come to an end.
On the other hand, the trial of the former Vatican auditor general, Libero Milone, against the Secretariat of State may begin in the next year.
In 2023, there will also be a special celebration. March 13 will mark 10 years since this significant moment.
