Pope Francis prays for the victims of the earthquake in Syria and Turkey

During his weekly catechesis, Pope Francis prayed for the victims and families that have been affected by the devastating earthquake in Syria and Turkey.

Let us pray together that these brothers and sisters of ours may move forward, in the face of this tragedy, and let us ask the Blessed Mother to protect them.

Pope Francis has followed earthquake victims closely in the past. In 2017, the Pope recalled how he felt when he was alerted that an earthquake had destroyed several towns in central Italy and claimed the lives of 300 people.

Just getting up I found a note about the earthquakes and I felt two things: I must go, I must go, and then I felt pain. So much pain. It was with this pain that I went to celebrate Mass.

Back in 2017, the Pope visited the areas affected by the earthquake and prayed in remembrance of what was there before.
