It's been one week since Cardinal Matteo Zuppi returned home from a two-day trip to Moscow as Pope Francis' special envoy. In an interview with the Italian TV show, RAI TG1, Cardinal Pietro Parolin gave more insight into the trip's mission and goals.
He said its focus was mainly on the “exchange of prisoners and the repatriation of children.” The Vatican Secretary of State said that the Vatican is working to help bring back the 19,000 children taken from Ukraine.
In the interview, Cardinal Parolin also called for a reform of the United Nations, “where the dignity of each state is respected without the prevalence of stronger states.” He encouraged a UN that can help prevent and resolve conflicts.
The Cardinal also spoke about other topics such as migration, nuclear weapons and tension in the Middle East.
