This was the moment Pope Leo XIV arrived at Adolfo Suárez Madrid–Barajas Airport, kicking off his fourth apostolic journey.
Their Majesties King Felipe VI and Queen Letizia of Spain welcomed him on the runway, alongside leaders of the Spanish Episcopal Conference and government officials.
After greeting several families waiting for him, the pope made his way to his first official event: a welcome ceremony at the Royal Palace of Madrid with Their Majesties the King and Queen of Spain. He will then meet with government officials, Representatives of Civil Society, and members of the Diplomatic Corps, before he delivers the first speech of his visit.
